David Moreland took a step outside of his job description (and his comfort zone) this past month to share an important message that involved some shenanigans, Gregory Construction’s administrative team, and the popular TV show, The Office.
While Dave seems to have a good handle on keeping our Administration team safe at “The Office” in this video, his experience working in safety goes back 28 years. “I started as a site safety technician before my time at Gregory Construction. Since then, my career has taken me to many different places, working as site safety, then project safety management, then corporate safety manager, and then safety director for the last seven years. I started working for Gregory last year in September.”
What inspired Dave to work in safety may surprise you. Beyond the rewarding work of keeping our team safe every day, Dave claims he most enjoys building great teams and helping people to unlock their potential – “even to the ends of mentoring them to be better than me.”
The best part of his job is less surprising, as it is clear he highly enjoyed creating this video with our administrative team. “The best part of my job is my co-workers and my leader, Justin Harris, COO. Without them, I am nothing. Working with them makes my job easier and more fulfilling.”
Shenanigans aside, Safety remains a top priority and a key part of our mission at Gregory Construction. It is part of our 2025 Theme of Safer, Stronger, Smarter – and it’s more than a full-time responsibility.
“Being a Director of Safety and Quality is not an 8-hour office job. Myself and our safety management team often work 60-70 plus hours a week, available 24-7, and often in the field helping our field co-workers go home safe and well.”
Faced daily with this great responsibility, David is excited to continue to work alongside the others in making Gregory Safer, Smarter and Stronger, and to continue to develop safety gear and procedures in any way possible.
